Her painting techniques encompass a wide range of mediums noted for her use of color and incorporation of motifs from Japanese traditional craft and popular culture, they include flowers, children, and characters from otaku culture. It was her first exhibition with Tokyo’s Biliken Shokai gallery in 2010 where her eclectic styles caught the attention of prolific Japanese modern artist Takashi Murakami. She was soon selected to exhibit with Murakami’s new gallery Hidari Zingaro dedicated to the support and nurturing of young Japanese talent. Since then, she has been exhibiting professionally with Japan’s most prominent galleries such as KaiKai Kiki Gallery Osaka, KaiKai Kiki Gallery Tokyo, 0000 Gallery Kyoto, and pixiv Zingaro. Chikuwaemil has also found commercial success on fashion brand collaborations with Paul Frank and My Little Pony to name a few.
